Warning: Do NOT read if you are about to eat...
That's right children, I have everyones favorite ailment- Traveller's Diarrhoea! Hasn't been so bad today, although that may just be because I've hardly eaten, but yesterday morning was pretty bad, and as a result I've spent most of the last 48 hours in bed!
Most of the time I was awake for yesterday was spent at the orphanage, as the guy who runs it unexpectedly turned up- a day earlier than planned! An interesting variation on Nepal time! Getting there was an interesting experience- was my first time leaving Thamel (apart from coming in from the airport) so got to see a bit of non-touristy Kathmandu, and all from the back of a motorbike (thought you'd like that Mum!)! I only felt close to death a couple of times, which given the roads, other road users and my current health, was quite encouraging! The orphanage is nice, so far seems more just like a house with lots of children! I think it was a better portrayal of Nepali life than anything I've seen so far: the women were preparing the food on the bedroom floor! Met a couple of the kids who seemed quite in awe of me- one was very shy to start with but when she saw that here friend was having lots of fun pushing me over and standing on my feet she decided to join in!
Apart from that I've not felt well enough to leave my room for anything except buying water and going to the internet cafe (about 20 meters from my front door!). Things I miss being ill here: - Toast- marmite soliders on bread just isn't the same - Day time TV - Disney films- just the music doesn't make you feel better (yes I have tried!) - Unlimited access to cold/hot water - My own bed- if someone would like to send it to me that would be great (throw in a TV and Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King too please)
After lots of water, more food than yesterday and lots of sleep I seem to be feeling a bit better, so hopefully tomorrow will be more productive, although what I do will have to be decided in the morning when I know how strong I'm feeling.
Hope everyone in England is less ill!
