Greetings from Nepal!
Day 2 Location: Kathmandu Status: Alone in a city full of noisy cars, cows, and lots of rain, but alive. Do I really need to say any more?! The above is a pretty accurate description of Kathmandu, it's completly crazy, totally different to anywere i've been before. Getting here was fine, the flight was a bit long and very hot: Doha was like a sauna and it was only 6.30 am when we arrived! Met Luke at the airport as planed and he took me to my new home- Lhasa Guesthouse! The room is basic, but clean and I have my own shower and toilet (a proper western one!). Spent yeserday afternoon wondering around Thamel (the main tourist area) then went for Momos (kinda like chinese dumplings filled with meat or veg) with Luke and three of his tibetan friends. Today was Luke's last day here so we did a very rushed tourof some more of the area then lunch with another friend and my adopted mentor before Luke left for his plane leaving me all alone! Since then I've wandered about, got lost several times and managed to get walk straight past my guesthouse! Apart from that all is fine, I'm beginning to learn my way about and remember a few useful words. The plan is to spend the rest of this week exploring the city and then start at the orphanage next week.
